{"id":655556,"date":"2026-06-24T09:34:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T09:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/655556\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T09:34:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T09:34:08","slug":"how-is-the-heatwave-affecting-the-north-west-of-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/655556\/","title":{"rendered":"How is the heatwave affecting the North West of England?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">National Rail has urged people to &#8220;only travel if absolutely necessary&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There is disruption and cancellations to some rail services because of the severe weather with Avanti West Coast, Northern and Transpennine warning passengers to check before travelling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Network Rail said that while all lines across the North West would remain open, operators would run amended timetables to help manage the impact of extreme temperatures on the railways.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">For safety reasons, trains will operate at reduced speeds, meaning journeys will take longer and there is a heightened risk of delays, cancellations and last-minute alterations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There will be no rail replacement bus services during this period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Merseyrail said because of the expected temperatures, Network Rail had put speed restrictions in place on the Headbolt Lane line, and the service would run every 30 minutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"National Rail has urged people to &#8220;only travel if absolutely necessary&#8221;.
