Dinner\u2019s On Me podcast<\/a> about how he and another of the show\u2019s stars had a \u201cheated argument\u201d because he wasn\u2019t out to his family while filming season one.<\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019ve never said this before, and I won\u2019t say who it was, but during filming of that first season, somebody on the cast was quite frustrated with me when they found out that I wasn\u2019t out to my family,\u201d France said.<\/p>\n
He went on to say that his co-star told him: \u201cBasically, \u2018You\u2019re kind of a traitor to us on the show if you\u2019re not out.\u2019 Like, \u2018How can you be on Queer Eye and not be singing it from the rooftops?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
France went on to say that he told the other cast member that they \u201chad no idea\u201d what his \u201cexperience is as a queer Muslim, a queer brown person, a queer immigrant\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, France came out to his family two days before the show\u2019s premiere, saying that the experience was \u201cabsolutely shocking\u201d but that his family wasn\u2019t hostile, just inexperienced with the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n
He told the podcast that he \u201cwas navigating something so different to everybody else at the time, so it felt really heavy. But once my family accepted it and understood it, now, gosh, they\u2019re a huge part of my life. They love my husband, they love my kids. We are so close again.\u201d<\/p>\n
