Ben Whittaker believes he and Anthony Joshua are Matchroom Boxing\u2019s two biggest attractions as he prepares for his U.S. debut on Saturday night. The unbeaten light heavyweight says continued victories will cement his place as one of the promotion\u2019s leading stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve not got a lot of people right now either. So I believe I\u2019m one of the main ones,\u201d Whittaker said to The Ariel Helwani Show.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey got AJ. They\u2019ve got me. Who else got numbers like me and AJ? So for me, I believe if I keep winning, doing what I\u2019m supposed to do, I\u2019ll be the next guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The unbeaten light heavyweight will make his U.S. and North American debut against Richard Rivera on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the undercard of Jaron Ennis\u2019 unified junior middleweight title fight against Xander Zayas.<\/p>\n

Whittaker said Matchroom has fulfilled everything he expected since joining the promotional company, pointing to headline opportunities and his rapid climb up the rankings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve done everything they can for me. They\u2019ve gave me two headlines. Now I\u2019m out in America on a big card. At the end of the day, I\u2019m the fighter,\u201d said Whittaker. \u201cI\u2019m supposed to go out there, perform and win, and they\u2019re supposed to bring me these guys. That\u2019s what they\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Olympic silver medalist added that he is ranked #2 by both the WBC and IBF and believes a world title fight is within reach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m ranked number two in the IBF, number two in the WBC. So I\u2019m there and thereabouts,\u201d Whittaker said.<\/p>\n

A victory over Rivera would move the 11-0-1 (8 KOs) contender closer to a final eliminator before a possible world title opportunity in early 2027.<\/p>\n
