Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland has been confirmed for a brand new Sunday morning radio show. The comedian proved a fan favourite on the 2024 season of the BBC show, leading all the way to lifting the Glitterball Trophy.<\/p>\n

It has now been announced that he will front The Chris McCausland Show on Absolute Radio, where he will “share his take on the week, celebrate the music he loves, and bring listeners the kind of brilliantly offbeat observations that have made him a favourite on stage, screen and radio”.<\/p>\n

McCausland is set to host alongside fellow comedian Jon Long, with the show launching on Sunday, 5 July, running every Sunday between 8am and 11am.<\/p>\n

Speaking about landing the gig on The Dave Berry Breakfast Show, the comedian joked: “I’m not on tour at the minute, so I’m just fancy free and footloose and I’m an early riser anyway, the older I get, the earlier I wake up.<\/p>\n

“So, I’m looking forward to it, to be there as part of people’s Sunday morning, filling their ears with drivel while they’re driving round and trying to avoid doing anything productive. That’s a win for me.”<\/p>\n

McCausland and Long also have a history of touring together, the Strictly star adding: “We’re used to talking nonsense to each other for some long car journeys and in dressing rooms.<\/p>\n

“And he’s used to putting up with me for long periods of time. I mean, it’s not like he can just leap out of a moving car, is it? So, I’m hoping that in a stationary studio with a door, he doesn’t just walk out.”<\/p>\n

Absolute Radio’s content director Paul Sylvester said: “Chris is a phenomenal talent \u2013 naturally funny, hugely relatable and completely original. His personality, humour and love of great music make him a perfect fit for Absolute Radio.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re delighted to welcome him to the station and know our listeners are going to love spending Sunday mornings with him.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, things are gearing up for this year’s season of Strictly, with a few contestants confirmed<\/a> alongside the new hosting team<\/a>.<\/p>\n
