We spoke with Jenifer Anderson, certified ACE group exercise instructor and fitness professional, who shares the five daily moves she swears by to <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eatthis.com\/exercises-to-stay-fit-after-50\/\" target=\"_blank\">boost overall fitness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love a combination of <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eatthis.com\/21-day-bodyweight-challenge-build-lean-muscle\/\" target=\"_blank\">bodyweight work<\/a> and some intentional strength exercise,\u201d Anderson tells us. \u201cEach of the exercises below builds strength and muscular endurance. Muscles will become challenged to grow stronger (promoting healthier bones and joints), and you\u2019ll gain endurance (think longer walks, hikes, runs).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anderson says that balance can be incorporated into any of these exercises as well. For instance, when performing a plank or pushup, lift your hand when you reach the top of the movement. At the bottom of a squat, lift one foot off the floor to check your balance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBalance is something we have to consistently work on as we age, and finding small ways to incorporate it into your workout will be a huge benefit,\u201d Anderson notes.<\/p>\n<p>5 Daily Exercises To Stay Strong in Your 50s<br \/>\n\tPushups<\/p>\n<p><img xmlns=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload alignnone size-medium wp-image-753477\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"&quot;0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/woman-pushups-high-intensity-interval-training.jpeg\" alt=\"woman doing pushups, high-intensity interval training\" width=\"640\" height=\"469\"  \/>Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPushups are a go-to\u2014you can change your hand positioning, add power with tempo work or make it more achievable by starting on the knees or on a wall,\u201d Anderson explains. \u201cPushups are deceiving because they aren\u2019t just upper body work.
