Green Party leader Zack Polanski will tell business leaders at a conference on Thursday that he will deliver \u201cclarity, stability and serious vision\u201d for the UK economy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In what will be his most significant address to bosses since becoming leader, Polanski is expected to recognise that private sector executives \u201cmight have some preconceptions\u201d yet he\u2019ll insist that his controversial policies on the environment and taxation<\/a> would bolster economic security for small businesses across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cLook \u2013 plenty of you probably won\u2019t agree with me on everything,\u201d he will tell an audience at a conference organised by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), one of the largest industry groups in the country.<\/p>\n \u201cBut there are a few things I think we can agree on: that the job of government is to provide long-term stability, and an environment in which good businesses can thrive.<\/p>\n \u201cThat all of us \u2013 families, individuals, workers, businesses \u2013 do best when we know what\u2019s coming, and we\u2019re supported to meet it.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd that a strong economy, one which enables us all to reach our potential, must be a resilient economy, a sustainable economy, and a futureproofed economy.\u201d<\/p>\n He will hit out at the Conservatives and Labour\u2019s \u201cdecade of instability\u201d and suggest that a government led by him would focus on boosting domestic production and the quality of manufacturing infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n His speech will also touch on the heatwave that has swept the UK this week as he is set to criticise structures that \u201cbreak down when the temperature hits 30 degrees\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tRead more<\/p>\n \t\t\tIs Zack Polanski\u2019s honeymoon over?\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe impacts couldn\u2019t be starker than what we\u2019re seeing this week. Extreme temperatures leaving trains cancelled, employees unable to get to work \u2013 or employers forced to send their workers home because they can\u2019t keep their workplace cool.\u201d<\/p>\n Polanski among political heavyweights speaking to business<\/p>\n Polanski\u2019s address to businesses reflects his push to bring the focus back to the Green Party\u2019s policy agenda after a difficult few weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n The London<\/a> Assembly member was cleared in a City Hall investigation on claims he failed to pay council tax while living on a boat, although he is still being probed by the borough of Waltham Forest.\u00a0<\/p>\n He apologised for the \u201cunintentional mistake\u201d of not paying the tax while in east London and said he should have taken \u201cgreater care\u201d over housing arrangements despite facing \u201cfinancial hardship\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n His speech will come amidst a crowded field of political heavyweights sharing their ideas with a business audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n
