Charli XCX<\/a>\u00a0has opened up about her relationship with\u00a0Madonna<\/a>, after the pair appeared to end speculation of a feud by partying together in Paris.<\/p>\n

Charli\u2019s recent single \u2018Rock Music<\/a>\u2019, taken from her upcoming album \u2018Music, Fashion, Film<\/a>\u2019, caused debate over its bold declaration: \u201cI think the dancefloor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music\u201d.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0lyric\u00a0arrived as Madonna was gearing up to release \u2018Confessions II<\/a>\u2019, the long-anticipated sequel to 2005\u2019s \u2018Confessions On A Dance Floor\u2019. She later appeared to respond on Instagram, writing<\/a>: \u201cIf your Dance floor feels dead, maybe you\u2019re playing the wrong music.\u201d<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0the pair\u00a0were\u00a0spotted together in Paris\u00a0in the last week<\/a>, bringing\u00a0an apparent\u00a0end to speculation of tension between the two pop stars.<\/p>\n

Now, Charli has given an interview to Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6 Music, where she discussed her recent \u201cmini-break\u201d with Madonna.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Madonna had\u00a0a mini break\u00a0together,\u00a0essentially is\u00a0what happened. We went to Paris\u00a0and we just\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0stop hanging out with each other.\u00a0And it was\u00a0fab!\u201d Charli said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve met before in the\u00a0past\u00a0but I don\u2019t know that she knows that \u2013 but we were put together on a group text just a couple of weeks ago, which is obviously insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charli went on to explain that the pair then ended up throwing parties together in the French capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo\u00a0we did \u2013 but then we actually accidentally threw two parties,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cShe\u2019s\u00a0very like\u2026 I mean,\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0so cool. And she is so interested in really talking about the music that she makes, and how and why, and I found it very inspiring to hang out with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charli also admitted that she was not necessarily a Madonna fan when she was\u00a0younger, but\u00a0came to appreciate her work more deeply as she grew older.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when I became like a bit more interested in how music is art and artful \u2013 I think that\u2019s when I began my Madonna time,\u201d she said. \u201cMy first big song that I fell in love with of hers was \u2018Hollywood\u2019. That song really hit me in a way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two artists were seated next to one another at the Saint Laurent menswear spring\/summer 2027 fashion show on\u00a0June 23, and\u00a0were later seen smoking and chatting with other stars in attendance, including actors Connor Storrie and Debi Mazar.<\/p>\n

At the end of the night, the two danced together to Madonna\u2019s hits, like \u2018Thief of Hearts\u2019 and \u2018Hung Up\u2019,\u00a0from behind the DJ booth at the\u00a0after-party.<\/p>\n

Charli has since clarified that\u00a0\u2018Rock Music\u2019 was not intended as a literal dismissal of dance music<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThat lyric is very much about my relationship with \u2018Brat\u2019,\u00a0and my personal experience with that album,\u201d she\u00a0explained. \u201cDance music is in an incredible place.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also\u00a0pushed back on the idea that her next album is a straightforward rock record<\/a>, saying: \u201cI know that there\u2019s been a lot of conversation around me making a rock album, which is something that I never said.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Music, Fashion, Film\u2019 is set for release on July 24, and features a black-and-white cover shot by Aidan Zamiri with John Cale, Marc\u00a0Jacobs\u00a0and Martin Scorsese.\u00a0You can pre-order it\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0Charli recently spoke candidly about her mental health<\/a>, saying: \u201cI\u2019m in the worst place mentally that I\u2019ve been in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that she was \u201cstruggling\u201d in the wake of the \u2018Brat\u2019 era, while also moving into a new creative chapter across music,\u00a0fashion\u00a0and film.<\/p>\n
