In the U.S., certain benefits recipients are to get their latest monthly money next Thursday, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) kicks off its July 2026 payment schedule<\/a> for the Social Security program.<\/p>\n

On July 2 – a day earlier than usual – Social Security benefits are to be sent out to two groups of recipients.<\/p>\n

Who gets Social Security on Thursday, July 2?Some long-term beneficiaries<\/p>\n

July\u2019s benefits are to be issued to recipients who signed up for Social Security before May 1997.<\/p>\n

Dual recipients (Social Security + SSI)<\/p>\n

Thursday is also July\u2019s distribution date for Social Security beneficiaries who combine the program with Supplemental Security Income<\/a> (SSI).<\/p>\n

A scheme for certain low-income individuals, SSI differs from Social Security as it is needs-based. Eligibility for the benefit is not dependent on a recipient\u2019s work record. <\/p>\n

In July, SSI payments – which average $738.13 per month – are scheduled to go out on Wednesday 1<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Why the early payment?<\/p>\n

The above groups of long-term and dual beneficiaries normally get their Social Security payments on the third day of each month. However, distribution has been brought forward because July 3 is a federal holiday, as part of the U.S.\u2019s Independence Day celebrations.<\/p>\n

When are other Social Security beneficiaries paid in July 2026?<\/p>\n

Of the U.S.\u2019s 71.2 million recipients of Social Security benefits, many will be paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in July, depending on their birthday:<\/p>\n

Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22<\/p>\n

NB: If you claim Social Security payments based on someone else\u2019s employment history, the SSA uses the other person\u2019s date of birth.<\/p>\n

How does the Social Security Admin pay monthly benefits?<\/p>\n

Social Security beneficiaries can update their banking information using the online \u201cmy Social Security<\/a>\u201d tool.<\/p>\n

Money can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card<\/a> for receiving federal disbursements. Sign up for Direct Express at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
