I\u2019m a little stunned by the latest update to NTE<\/a>, scheduled to release on 8th July.<\/p>\n

Fans will know the GTA<\/a>-inspired open world launched earlier this year with a variety of activities, ranging from racing to shop management.<\/p>\n

But its next addition is an entire fantasy RPG named \u2018999 Nights\u2019 (irritatingly pronounced \u2018One Thousand Less One Nights\u2019 and not \u2018Nine Nine Nine Nights\u2019 like you\u2019d expect).<\/p>\n

Frustrating naming conventions aside, this is a full-blown fantasy RPG with multiple character classes (inspired by characters from the main game), unlockable gear sets, and an expanding world.<\/p>\n

Apparently, the more times you beat the campaign, the more quests you\u2019ll unlock, deepening its lore. You\u2019ll also gather tokens which will allow you to bring some of the gear sets back into the main game. (Although they\u2019ll be less customisable outside of the fantasy RPG mode, obviously.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

So yeah, this is something I never expected. It also just happens to be one part of the latest update, which also includes a continuation of the core storyline, two new characters, various social events, a bunch of costumes, an auction-inspired minigame, and more.<\/p>\n

I should stress that the new fantasy RPG mode will be a permanent addition, so you don\u2019t need to worry about time limits, as is sometimes the case in gacha games.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s much more in the update as outlined via the hour-long Special Program above. I\u2019d recommend watching through it if you\u2019re interested in all the new content.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m still really enjoying my time in Heathereau, although I generally haven\u2019t been impressed with the events thus far. This new fantasy RPG mode is definitely going to capture my interest, though.<\/p>\n
