A man from Fife has died after being shot multiple times on a Caribbean island, police have said.<\/p>\n
Daniel Vettrino, from Dysart, was killed following an incident on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines.<\/p>\n
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said it responded to reports of shots being fired in the Gym Hill area at about 23:30 on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
Vettrino, 37, was later pronounced dead by a local medical officer. Police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out and an investigation had been launched.<\/p>\n
A family member described Vettrino as “much loved by everyone” and “a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him”.<\/p>\n
They said: “He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.”<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the foreign office said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who died in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we are in contact with the local authorities.”<\/p>\n
Canouan is one of 32 islands making up the St Vincent and the Grenadines archipelago.<\/p>\n
