{"id":665013,"date":"2026-06-29T21:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T21:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/665013\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T21:59:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T21:59:10","slug":"golfer-sets-new-world-record-by-playing-252-holes-in-37-hours-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/665013\/","title":{"rendered":"Golfer sets new world record by playing 252 holes in 37 hours for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\tWhile most of Cornwall was asleep on Saturday morning, Nicolas Brewaeys stepped onto the first tee ahead of what proved to be a world record-setting weekend at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfshake.com\/course\/view\/16603\/West_Cornwall_Golf_Club.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Cornwall Golf Club<\/a> in St Ives.<\/p>\n<p>\tThirty-seven hours and two minutes later, PGA professional Nicolas walked off the 18th green having completed a remarkable 252 holes of golf &#8211; exceeding his target by over an hour &#8211; raising almost \u00a36,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and writing his name into the history books.<\/p>\n<p>\tNicolas conquered swirling wind and downpours, failing Globalls and having to take on the challenge solo after his playing partner was ruled out through injury to set a new record for the longest consecutive time playing golf, beating the previous unofficial record of 36 hours by an hour and two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Golf World Record\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Nicolas_Brewaeys_4_hodncr.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px; height: 320px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\tBut for Nicholas, who also took on <a href=\"https:\/\/biggolfrace.prostatecanceruk.org\/?utm_source=golfshake&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=big-golf-race-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prostate Cancer UK\u2019s Big Golf Race<\/a> last year, with a twist -completing 184 holes in 21 hours and 45 minutes &#8211; the weekend\u2019s challenge was just a normal weekend at the golf course.<\/p>\n<p>\t&#8220;Just another day at the office!&#8221; Nicolas said. &#8220;I\u2019m really grateful to everyone who has donated; it\u2019s amazing to have raised so much for Prostate Cancer UK and I can\u2019t thank everyone who supported me enough.<\/p>\n<p>\t&#8220;My legs feel surprisingly good today, but it was tough out there at times, especially during the night with the wind and rain. 14 out of the 18 Globalls I had failed, so there were times when I wondered if I had enough to get me through to daylight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\tNick\u2019s challenge began at sunrise on Saturday and concluded on Sunday after 14 consecutive rounds of golf, assisted by injured playing partner, Ross Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>\t&#8220;Ross was brilliant; he told me what to eat and drink and when and was there for me throughout the night when things were getting difficult. I couldn\u2019t have done it without him,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"World Record Golf Challenge\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Nicolas_Brewaeys_3_h3e3ex.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px; height: 320px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\tAnd Nick\u2019s record-setting efforts were made even sweeter when he discovered his son, Cameron, had won the under-12s County Championship at the club on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>\t&#8220;I didn\u2019t know he\u2019d won until the final hole, so to come off the green and see him holding his trophy was quite emotional,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It was an amazing weekend.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\tFor Nick and Ross, their challenge was not just about testing endurance.
