Bradford Bulls boss Kurt Haggerty believes it would have been \u201cridiculous\u201d if St Helens half-back Jackson Hastings were to receive a ban for making contact with Will Gardiner on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Gardiner needed to be stretchered off the field in the Bulls\u2019 defeat on Friday, and was immediately taken to hospital for assessment.<\/p>\n

Boss Haggerty was originally going to follow his player to the hospital, however, thankfully, Gardiner was \u201calert\u201d before he went in the ambulance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was pretty frightening,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI think the feedback that I got,\u00a0he had a bit of a bleed from the ear too,\u00a0so there were a lot of concerning moments.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust after the game,\u00a0I got in to see Will in the medical room\u00a0before he went to the hospital. He had a smile on his face.\u00a0He was alert.\u00a0So yeah, he\u2019s OK.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s back home with his partner,\u00a0so he\u2019s in a better place. I think he has to go back for another CT scan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just been saying to somebody,\u00a0they\u2019ve found a slight bleed on the brain,\u00a0but it could have been something from birth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something maybe not too concerning,\u00a0something that maybe [already] happened to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the detail of it,\u00a0but it\u2019s not as severe as it was what it sounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bradford Bulls boss backs Jackson Hastings amid disciplinary worry<\/p>\n

Since the incident, replays have emerged where Hastings seemingly touched Gardiner on the floor.<\/p>\n

This year have seen a number of players banned for making unnecessary contact with players who are or may be injured. Lachie Miller and Semi Valemei were suspended for three matches for their respective incidents, earlier in the season, despite their lack of intention to cause harm.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, common sense has prevailed and Hastings has escaped a charge. Speaking ahead of the disciplinary verdict, Haggerty shared his thoughts on why a charge for the Saints man would have been ludicrous<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt\u2019d be ridiculous.\u00a0I spoke to Paul Rowley after the game,\u00a0and Paul messaged me on behalf of Jackson,\u00a0particularly after the game,\u00a0to see if Will was OK.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been a big panic from St Helens as well\u00a0about the situation.\u00a0So, Saints have been first class,\u00a0and Jackson Hastings has been first class.\u201d<\/p>\n
