Coronation Street<\/a> has revealed that it’s cast a former EastEnders<\/a> and The Bill star for its upcoming storyline involving a Weatherfield legend.<\/p>\n

Ian Burfield is joining the cast of the ITV<\/a> soap as the long-lost father of long-standing character Tyrone Dobbs, with his first scenes set to air next week. The actor previously appeared in EastEnders as DCI Peter Arthurs and The Bill, where he played various characters.<\/p>\n

But back to what’s happening in Corrie, and more than two decades in Weatherfield, it was only three years ago that Tyrone discovered who his biological mother is for the first time.<\/p>\n

Claire Sweeney made her first appearance in the soap in 2023 as drug user Cassie Plummer, and was revealed to be the long-lost mum of Tyrone and the estranged daughter of Evelyn Plummer.<\/p>\n

Now, Tyrone’s family is going to expand further with the arrival of his father. According to new Corrie spoilers, at No.9, Cassie clocks Hope and Ruby Dobbs engrossed in an email on Hope\u2019s phone, but when she tries to quiz them, they refuse to be drawn, and explain that it\u2019s a surprise for Tyrone.<\/p>\n

In the Rovers, Tyrone and Fiz share a bottle of prosecco, but their romantic mood is ruined when Cassie, Steve McDonald, and Tracy Barlow plonk themselves down uninvited. Cassie tells Steve that she is fed up with Tracy trying to drive a wedge between them.<\/p>\n

But after speaking to Tyrone, Cassie decides the time has come to claim her man. Making a bold move and drops to one knee in the cab office and proposes. How will Steve react?<\/p>\n

Well, feeling let down by Steve, Cassie is annoyed to see him helping Tracy with a flower delivery and looking like a happy couple. Deciding to drown her sorrows, she heads to the Chariot Square and, after necking back vodka, chats up a bloke at the bar. Unaware that Steve is looking for her, she makes a pass at the bloke. Is she about to make a big mistake?<\/p>\n

Following her bender, a self-loathing Cassie returns home to see the family. Explaining she just needed some time to herself, she accepts Hope\u2019s invitation to a family meal at the Bistro. When Steve tells Cassie he wants to forget the last few days and get back to where they were, she hides her guilt.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hope and Ruby reveal they have a surprise for Tyrone; they sent off a sample of his DNA, traced his dad, and he\u2019s here now. How will Tyrone and Cassie react as Ross enters the Bistro?<\/p>\n

Speaking about Tyrone’s family expanding on-screen, actor Alan Halsall said: “I love it. When Tyrone first came into the show, he was essentially on his own. So, to have four generations of family built around myself and Fiz\u2014it makes me really proud as an actor. Multigenerational storytelling is something I really associate with Coronation Street.”<\/p>\n

Asked about Ian joining the cast, the soap star added, “I definitely recognised his face, but doing the screen tests with him really stood out. He\u2019s a big, imposing chap, but he\u2019s so laid back and calm.
