Ethan Galbraith is poised to leave Swansea City for Stoke City after the Welsh club accepted an eight-figure bid for the Northern Ireland international midfielder.<\/p>\n
Galbraith is due to undergo a medical in the Potteries on Tuesday after Swansea agreed to let the 25-year-old leave after only a year at the club.<\/p>\n
Galbraith, who can also play at right-back, was a standout performer for Swansea having joined from Leyton Orient for \u00a31.5m.<\/p>\n
The Swans had been keen to hand Galbraith a new long-term deal this summer, but the former Manchester United youngster is instead set to move on in a deal which is also expected to include potential add-ons.<\/p>\n
Swansea sources say it had been made clear that Galbraith was not prepared to sign a new contract.<\/p>\n
Galbraith’s current Swansea deal runs until 2028, with the club having the option to extend it by a further 12 months.<\/p>\n
But Swansea have opted to sanction Galbraith’s exit rather than force him to stay.<\/p>\n
The news comes as a hefty blow to head coach Vitor Matos given Galbraith’s contribution last season.<\/p>\n
He will depart having scored four goals in 44 Swansea appearances, a number of which were in his less favoured position on the right flank of defence.<\/p>\n
