\"This<\/a><\/p>\n

Bulgarian creative Viktor Antonov sadly passed away last year, but this is our first taste of his final work.<\/p>\n

Before his death, the Half-Life 2<\/a> and Dishonored<\/a> art director conceived Guns of Eschaton<\/a>, a \u201cfirst-of-its-kind\u201d Soulslike shooter which reimagines the \u201cAmerican frontier as an occult apocalypse\u201d.<\/p>\n

The blurb reads:<\/p>\n

\u201cSet in nineteenth-century America, Guns of Eschaton draws upon iconic historical figures and mythic archetypes of the Old West, reimagined within a fantastical apocalyptic world, where every enemy encounter means risking death.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll travel from east to west, overcoming a dying American world. Throughout which you\u2019ll need to master moves like parries and dashes, all while studying your adversaries and learning about their specific weak points.<\/p>\n

As you can see from the trailer, you\u2019ll be able to personalise your playstyle using a variety of gear, powers, and talismans. Finding synergies that suit the way you want to play will be a big part of the overall loop.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Similarly, you\u2019ll be able to play alone if you want to, but co-op will also be supported for those who want to venture out into the Wild West with friends.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not 100% sure this gameplay loop is my personal cup of tea, but I do think the occult-style Old West backdrop looks interesting, and the addition of Soulslike aspects to an FPS seems novel and interesting.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no release date just yet, but you can wishlist the game on the PS Store<\/a> right now.<\/p>\n
