DUBLIN, Ireland – Eddie Hearn is on his way to Turki Alalshikh\u2019s \u201cpeace summit\u201d with Zuffa Boxing.<\/p>\n
Hearn\u2019s Matchroom and Zuffa, which spearheaded by Dana White, have locked horns since Zuffa\u2019s arrival into the sport. Hearn and White have clashed over almost everything, with the pair taking aim at each other whenever a microphone is thrust into their face.<\/p>\n
Most recently the war of words between the pair revolved around is promoting the long overdue clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury later this year. White claims he has been given the job by Saudi boxing financier Alalshikh, Hearn says contractually that is an impossibility.<\/p>\n
This has led to Alalshikh calling for both parties to meet in hope of bringing peace between the two promoters. It was uncertain if Hearn would attend the summit but he revealed to members of the media in Dublin, Ireland, today that he would be meeting with Alalshikh and Zuffa Boxing executive Nick Khan.<\/p>\n
“I’m getting on a plane in about 45 minutes to go and see Turki and Nick Khan, who’s Dana’s boss, to see how those conversations are going to go,” Hearn said. “Again, there’s a lot to discuss and I’m giving\u2026 obviously Turki’s our friend, he’s our partner, I’m not going to say no to the meeting, but right now, I don’t see the need for peace, if you like.<\/p>\n
“It’s nothing personal, it’s all very competitive,” Hearn continued. “I’m being driven at the moment to work as hard as I can and produce the best schedule for DAZN, so in that respect, I don’t think we should necessarily want peace. I think the fight fans are enjoying it, and Dana’s probably enjoying it. He likes a good scrap and a bit of competition.
