Whoever trains the best gets picked.”

Wakefield Trinity set for forward boost ahead of Magic Weekend

Trinity were without several first-choice players for their last-gasp 29-23 win against Super League’s bottom club Huddersfield Giants last Sunday.

Coach Daryl Powell said: “We came out of that all right. There’s a couple of bumps and bruises, but we haven’t got anything major and we’ve got some potential players to come back.

“Caius [Faatili] didn’t play at the weekend, and he will be available. Matty Storton has a chance of being back, but some of the outside-backs probably won’t be.

“Matty had a minor groin injury a couple of weeks back. It was a little bit more than precautionary, but not too bad.

“Caius has just had an ankle [issue], and I decided just to rotate him and give him a bit of a breather.”

Winger Lachlan Walmsley played in the reserves on Monday and could come into contention. Powell is also hopeful Jay Pitts will feature, despite an injury which forced him off the field during last Sunday’s match.

“He’s all right,” Powell said of Pitts. “He could have come back on. It’s something that has been bothering him – everybody talks about how old he is, he gets a bit of stick and when you are a little bit older as a player and more experienced you’ve got a few bits and bobs that cause you strife.

“He has an ankle that, if he gets in certain positions, causes him trouble. It might be two or three times a year it happens to him. I think he will be sweet.
