\n Leading the way was one of Baildon\u2019s most famous residents, Brian Close.\n<\/p>\n
\n On this day 60 years ago, in Yorkshire\u2019s first innings at Bramall Lane, he took the attack to the men from Taunton.\n<\/p>\n
\n He struck a boundary-filled half-century, his 53 the top score as the hosts made 267 in South Yorkshire, Bradford\u2019s Doug Padgett also contributing with 48.\n<\/p>\n
\n Not known for his batting, left-arm spinner Don Wilson hit an important 39 down the order too.\n<\/p>\n
\n And three wickets apiece for Wilson, the great Fred Trueman and the vastly-underrated Tony Nicholson meant Somerset\u2019s first innings closed on just 168.\n<\/p>\n
\n But the away side had a talented Yorkshireman of their own in captain Colin Atkinson.\n<\/p>\n
\n He took 5-51 opening the bowling, beautifully in sync with Ken Palmer, who claimed 4-52.\n<\/p>\n
\n With the aid of a run out, the pair combined to skittle Yorkshire for just 104 in their second innings.\n<\/p>\n
\n Only Close (25) and John Hampshire (24) made any sort of mark with the bat, with the hosts now vulnerable to defeat, Somerset chasing 204 to win.\n<\/p>\n
\n Trueman dismissed both openers early on, but again it was Atkinson (47) and Palmer (26) combining nicely to \u00a0get their side back in the game.\n<\/p>\n
\n They helped Somerset reach 131-5 with a partnership of 53, but with the wickets being shared around, including another three-fer for the excellent Wilson, the visitors fell to 154 all out.\n<\/p>\n
