Jockey Frankie Dettori suffered several broken ribs and a broken thumb after being involved in a car crash, his management has said.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for H Talent Management confirmed the collision happened on Wednesday evening near Newmarket in Suffolk.<\/p>\n
Another vehicle struck the rear passenger side of the car the 55-year-old was driving, causing it to spin and flip, they said.<\/p>\n
Dettori’s injuries were still being assessed as he remained in hospital for further scans and observation.<\/p>\n

“Frankie would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene, together with the doctors, nurses and wider medical team caring for him,” said H Talent Management.<\/p>\n
“His focus is now on resting and recovering. H Talent Management respectfully asks that Frankie’s privacy is respected at this time.<\/p>\n
“No further comment will be made until there is a meaningful update.”<\/p>\n
Dettori has not ridden in Britain since October 2023 when he won the Champion Stakes on King of Steel at Ascot.<\/p>\n
But he was due to return to the saddle in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster during the St Leger Festival in September.<\/p>\n
H Talent Management referred to Wednesday’s crash as an “accident”.<\/p>\n
The collision is believed to have happened just over the border in Cambridgeshire and the county’s police force confirmed it was called to a collision on the A1304 London Road near Six Mile Bottom at about 19:00 BST.<\/p>\n
