{"id":670028,"date":"2026-07-02T15:46:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T15:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/670028\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T15:46:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T15:46:09","slug":"man-taken-to-hospital-after-suspected-shop-arson-in-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/670028\/","title":{"rendered":"Man taken to hospital after suspected shop arson in Liverpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A man has been taken to hospital after a suspected arson attack outside a shop in Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Emergency services were called to Stanley Park News on Stanley Park Avenue South at about 21:50 BST on Wednesday, Merseyside Police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Firefighters arrived within a minute and found the blaze had already been put out by police officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The service said minor damage was caused to the shop and one person was treated for slight smoke inhalation by paramedics before being taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Fire crews helped clear smoke from the area before leaving the scene in the hands of police at 22:30 BST.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Detectives said officers remained in the area carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and forensic inquiries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Det Insp Darren Hankin said police were in the early stages of their investigation and were &#8220;keeping an open mind&#8221; about the motive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt but we are determined to find the person responsible as soon as possible,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The force has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has been taken to hospital after a suspected arson attack outside a shop in Liverpool.
