\t\t\t\tAfter hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks, Phil Mickelson has had his say via a statement released by representatives.<\/p>\n

Phil Mickelson has responded to recent allegations set against him in two high-profile reports about his private life.<\/p>\n

Last month, Golf Digest\u2019s Joel Beall reported<\/a> that the 56-year-old has had his long-time membership of The Farms \u2013 a prestigious golf club near his San Diego home \u2013 revoked after accusations from a female employee about \u201cinappropriate\u201d behavior. Alan Shipnuck later reported<\/a> a number of eye-opening transgressions from Mickelson\u2019s personal affairs for Skratch Golf.<\/p>\n

Among the claims was an account of an incident that involved Ashley Perez \u2013 who was, at the time, married to Mickelson\u2019s fellow PGA Tour and LIV golfer Pat Perez. She said Mickelson, during dinner one evening, waited until the two of them were alone before showing her an explicit photo of himself and inviting her to join him in his hotel room later that night.<\/p>\n

The report also included information on Mickelson\u2019s departure from The Farms, as well as a number of other high-profile clubs due to ongoing misconduct.<\/p>\n

In a statement acquired by the New York Post<\/a>, representatives for the six-time major champion said Shipnuck prioritized \u201ca compelling, click-bait narrative over an accurate one\u201d in an \u201canonymously sourced drive-by shooting\u201d.<\/p>\n

It added: \u201cCredibility is not earned by publishing the most provocative narrative. It is earned through transparency, verification, and a clear distinction between fact, inference, and speculation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shipnuck\u2019s report did note that Mickelson had apologized to both Pat and Ashley Perez \u2013 which were received but not accepted \u2013 but the statement argued that \u201cshould not be misconstrued as an admission of every allegation made against him\u201d. Mickelson also claims the photo was not, as described, \u201ca full-body picture of himself naked with an erection while flexing one bicep\u201d, but simply a \u201ctopless\u201d shot.<\/p>\n

Another key account in Shipnuck\u2019s report was about how Mickelson would reportedly give his phone to golf club employees and \u201cpay them $500 to drive around the course for three or four hours\u201d. This, apparently, was so when Mickelson\u2019s wife, Amy, was tracking him on his phone, it looked like he was playing rather than in unspecified rendezvous. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Mickelson\u2019s statement, though, called the claims \u201cfalse\u201d and \u201csinister\u201d before adding that Amy is \u201cnot a public figure\u201d and someone who \u201cdid not choose this spotlight\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no legitimate journalistic reason to drag her into it,\u201d it concluded.<\/p>\n

Mickelson\u2019s representatives also told the publication that the left-hander has \u201cnever been expelled from a golf club\u201d nor has his membership \u201cbeen revoked by a golf club\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mickelson has withdrawn from the 154th Open Championship<\/a> at Royal Birkdale later this month \u2013 meaning this will be the first year since 1990 that he hasn\u2019t played in at least one of the four majors.
