{"id":670668,"date":"2026-07-02T23:24:28","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T23:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/670668\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T23:24:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T23:24:28","slug":"worcester-hospital-medical-supplies-fraudsters-guilty-of-279000-con","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/670668\/","title":{"rendered":"Worcester hospital medical supplies fraudsters guilty of \u00a3279,000 con"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A former NHS employee has been found guilty of conning the NHS out of \u00a3279,000 by selling its own equipment back to the service &#8211; sometimes more than once.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Emmanuel Nbanga, 45, from Solihull, took medical equipment from the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and then sold it back to the trust, the NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Nbanga, of Skye Close, Smith&#8217;s Wood, was found guilty of fraud by abuse of position and fraudulent trading on Tuesday, following a trial at Worcester Crown Court. Two accomplices were also convicted by the jury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Dave Horsley, from the NHSCFA, said the case was shocking &#8220;especially since the stock&#8230; was intended for operations on patients&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Solomon Adeyemi, 57, of Cole Hall Lane, Birmingham, was convicted of fraudulent trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Remilekun Olusesi, 40, of Skye Close, Smith&#8217;s Wood, Solihull, was found guilty of money laundering through the acquisition, retention, use or control of criminal property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The NHSCFA said Nbanga had been employed as a materials management assistant at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A former NHS employee has been found guilty of conning the NHS out of \u00a3279,000 by selling its&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":670669,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[43],"tags":[102,2960,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-670668","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-healthcare","tag-health","tag-healthcare","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/670668","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=670668"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/670668\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/670669"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=670668"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=670668"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=670668"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
