Between January and March 2026, guests spent 144.3 million nights<\/a> in short-term rental accommodation<\/a> in the EU<\/a>, booked through Airbnb, Booking or Expedia. The total number of guest nights in the first quarter of 2026 increased by 9.7% compared with the same quarter of 2025, but went up 16.6% compared with the same quarter of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This information comes from monthly data on short-stay accommodation offered via online platforms.<\/a> Today, Eurostat published the data for the first quarter of 2026 at the national level and for the fourth quarter of 2025 at the regional level.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The most popular regions for short-term rental accommodation booked via online platforms in the last quarter of 2025 were Andalucia (9.9 million nights) and the Canarias (8.2 million) in Spain and Ile-de-France (7.2 million) in France.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 10 most popular tourist regions were all located in just 3 EU countries: 5 in Spain, 3 in France and 2 in Italy.<\/p>\n
