Tottenham will \u201creluctantly allow\u201d Lucas Bergvall to leave the club, as per insider Pete O\u2019Rourke, just days after reportedly telling him otherwise.<\/p>\n
Spurs have gone huge in the summer transfer window. They have officially signed Mateus Fernandes, paying \u00a385million for the former West Ham man\u2019s transfer, and they\u2019re following it with the snare of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, for a fee rising to \u00a3100million.<\/p>\n
That will immediately become one of the Premier League\u2019s most exciting midfields, but Tottenham<\/a> have been hamstrung in that one of their most promising midfield stars wants to leave the club.<\/p>\n Bergvall<\/a> has told them of his desire to exit, feeling there\u2019s no obvious route into Roberto De Zerbi\u2019s side after he started just one of the seven games the Italian took charge of last season \u2013 and the new recruits should only make that harder.<\/p>\n And while reports of late suggested Spurs have told Bergvall he\u2019s going nowhere, O\u2019Rourke suggests they\u2019re open to selling.<\/p>\n He told Football Insider<\/a>: \u201cBergvall himself has indicated that he would like to leave Tottenham this summer for a new challenge.<\/p>\n \u201cTottenham reluctantly would allow him to move on for the right offer, and they\u2019ve obviously spent big in midfield with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes on the verge of joining the club as well so that would likely push Lucas Bergvall down the pecking order.<\/p>\n \u201cWith this big transfer outlay, Spurs are going to have to balance the books, so selling somebody like Bergvall, who they\u2019ll make a big profit on having signed him from Sweden, I think could be smart business.\u201d<\/p>\n Bergvall going nowhere?<\/p>\n That\u2019s quite the contrast from the recent reports, suggesting Bergvall had been told he\u2019ll be a valued member of the Spurs squad next season.<\/p>\n
