{"id":672311,"date":"2026-07-03T21:12:30","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T21:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/672311\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T21:12:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T21:12:30","slug":"hollaway-studio-wins-approval-for-200-homes-on-bromley-civic-centre-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/672311\/","title":{"rendered":"Hollaway Studio wins approval for 200 homes on Bromley Civic Centre site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month, Bromley Council\u2019s planning committee approved the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollawaystudio.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kent and London practice\u2019s<\/a> plans for 222 homes and later-living accommodation units on the site of Bromley Council\u2019s former offices in Stockwell Close.<\/p>\n<p>Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the Bishop\u2019s Place scheme, which involves demolishing several buildings on the site and restoring the Grade II-listed Old Palace Building to provide commercial uses on the ground floor with apartments above.<\/p>\n<p>The council created Bromley Civic Centre in the 1990s using buildings dating from the 1930s to the 1990s, and previously occupied by a college.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hollaway\u2019s approved plans for the 2.46ha site include 37 later-living units and 22 affordable units for client Galliard Homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The scheme retains two former council office buildings and creates six new buildings of up to five storeys, delivering 18,400m\u00b2 of residential floorspace.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-827732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/bishopsplace2.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"944\" height=\"652\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hollaway Studio\u2019s approved Bishops Courtyard scheme (June 2026)<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline_image_source\" style=\"font-size:12px; max-width: 954px;\">Source: Hollaway Studio<\/p>\n<p>The Old Palace Building, a former manor house which the council integrated into the civic complex, will be retained and retrofitted to include 11 homes with 187m\u00b2 of commercial use on the ground floor.<\/p>\n<p>Hollaway said in planning documents that the new buildings would be split into two clusters located either side of the retained buildings and open space, while providing a bulk, height and massing that \u2018respects and enhances\u2019 the Grade II-listed building.<\/p>\n<p>Landscape improvements include a series of interconnecting squares to create a \u2018collegiate feel\u2019 and new play areas, nature gardens and meeting spaces, plus a woodland walk to the north of the site.<\/p>\n<p>Hollaway was appointed after Galliard bought the site from Bromley Council in April 2025 for \u00a313.5 million.
