Boxing fans have been patiently waiting for the return of Errol Spence Jr<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been over two years since Spence was last in the ring, when he took on Terence Crawford<\/a> in their undisputed welterweight title showdown in July 2023.<\/p>\n

It was viewed as a 50-50 fight going in, but Spence suffered a crushing defeat, as he was soundly beaten by Crawford, who claimed the ninth round stoppage win to add the WBC, WBA and IBF titles and become undisputed at 147lbs.<\/a><\/p>\n

Spence has been linked to a number of fighters since then but is still yet to step back through the ropes, but it was hoped that 2025 would be the year that he does finally resume his career.<\/p>\n

Two of the opponents he has been linked with have now seemingly been ruled out though, after it was reported that they will instead be facing each other.<\/p>\n

According to Boxing Scene<\/a>, WBC super-welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora<\/a> is set to defend his title against Keith Thurman<\/a> on October 18 in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Fundora has held the belt since March 2024, and made the latest defence of his belt in July when he claimed a seventh round retirement win over Tim Tszyu.<\/p>\n

As for Thurman, he returned from a lengthy absence of his own when he stopped Brock Jarvis inside three rounds in March, in what was his first fight in three years and just second in nearly six years.<\/p>\n
