The Guest List<\/a> have shared a new single, \u2018If Ever Your Devil Is Kind\u2019 \u2013 you can listen to it below.<\/p>\n

The song will appear on the Manchester indie band\u2019s debut studio album, \u2018Something Real\u2019<\/a>, which is due for release on August 28.<\/p>\n

Inspired by frustrations witnessed at a football match, the brooding anthem channels the tension of modern masculinity. \u2018If Ever Your Devil Is Kind\u2019 also tackles themes of loneliness and resentment, bred by the pressures put on men to embody a certain ideal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis song is about feeling unfulfilled in spite of having achieved everything that you thought would make you happy,\u201d The Guest List wrote<\/a> on social media today (Friday July 3).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt closes Side A on the record and features the only live string arrangement on the album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy the fuck aren\u2019t you happy yet?\u201d asks frontman Cai Alty in the sweeping emotional cut, as he faces up to the expectations for men to \u201chave it all\u201d. The track is accompanied by a striking official music video, directed by Valentina Khodnevich. Tune in here:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2018Something Real\u2019 will also feature the previously released title track<\/a> and recent single \u2018You Should Care\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The forthcoming album was recorded in Norway with collaborator Matias Tellez and produced in-part by The Coral<\/a>\u2019s James Skelly. Across the 12 songs, The Guest List balance weighty themes of mental health<\/a>, climate change and domestic violence with moments of vulnerability and resilience.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe album is basically us saying, \u2018we\u2019re young, we\u2019re confused just like you \u2013 how did we get here?\u2019\u201d Alty explained. \u201cIt\u2019s about trying to find something meaningful in a world that often feels overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n

This summer, The Guest List are set to make festival appearances at Reading & Leeds<\/a>, Boardmasters<\/a>, Latitude<\/a>, Tramlines<\/a> and Victorious<\/a>, among other events.
