\n For half a century, Terry lived and breathed the game he loved.\n<\/p>\n
\n An avid cricket fan and a dedicated player, he spent 50 remarkable years representing Fields, Wibsey Park Chapel, Buttershaw St Paul\u2019s, Woodlands and Jer Lane.\n<\/p>\n
\n His commitment to the sport was matched only by the joy and camaraderie he brought to every team he played for.\n<\/p>\n
\n One of the defining moments of Terry\u2019s long career came in July 1967, when he delivered an extraordinary performance: 10 wickets for just 11 runs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Though he retired at 64, the game never truly let him go. His heart kept pulling him back to the field he adored, and he continued to play into his 70s.\n<\/p>\n
\n For a man whose devotion to cricket never faltered, it could not have been any other way.\n<\/p>\n

\n His family said: \u201cBeyond the statistics and scorecards, Terry will be remembered for his warmth, his humour, and the steady presence he brought to every dressing room and boundary rope.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHe was a mentor, a teammate, and a friend, someone who made the game better simply by being part of it.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHis legacy lives on in the stories shared, the players he inspired, and the countless Saturdays spent under open skies doing what he loved most.\n<\/p>\n
\n The family added: \u201cFollowing his retirement, Terry took the opportunity to travel the world, visiting the likes of India, Australia and Cuba.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThese adventures never left him short of a story and Terry loved sharing those tales with family and friends.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHe also found deep joy in the great outdoors. Much of his retirement was spent walking with his beloved dogs and with \u201cthe grumpies\u201d, a group he was a proud and loyal member of.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cAt home, Terry\u2019s garden was his sanctuary. He poured countless hours into nurturing it and it was a place that reflected him perfectly \u2014 steady, vibrant, full of life.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n The family also said: \u201cFor all his achievements, travels, and stories, Terry\u2019s greatest pride was always his family.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cNothing mattered more to him.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHe and Gill brought Tracey\u00a0and Andrew\u00a0into the world, and he cherished every moment of being their dad.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHis role as Grandad (\u201cGramps\u201d)\u00a0to Jenna, Kirstie, and Nathan\u00a0brought him endless joy, and that joy only grew when he became Great\u2011Grandad\u00a0to Caden, Leo, and Kyren.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe memories made will be held close by his family forever.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n The family finished off by saying:\u00a0\u201cIn 2021, Terry was diagnosed with dementia and faced a long, difficult battle with immense courage.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cAs the disease progressed, it slowly took away his ability to enjoy the hobbies he loved.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBut it never took away his humour, his spark, or his gift for storytelling.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cHe could crack a joke, deliver a one\u2011liner, or recount a tale from decades ago in his strongest Yorkshire dialect.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cRest in eternal peace, Terry. Your legacy will live on in every life you touched.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
