Apple is trying its hand at the iPhone Air 2 in an attempt to appease a small percentage of consumers who love the idea of a sleek flagship, but without the compromises that exist in the\u00a0iPhone Air. Fortunately, a new video highlights key features of the upcoming handset, including a second camera that can only be accommodated thanks to a shrunken Face ID module, not to mention using the A20 Pro\u00a0instead of the A20 that was previously rumored<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additional features could make the iPhone Air 2 even more popular than its predecessor, but pricing will play a paramount role<\/p>\n

Sticking with the same titanium alloy chassis as the iPhone Air, Jon Prosser summarizes various features arriving to the iPhone Air 2 in the latest fpt video. The main 48MP camera will be supplemented by another 48MP ultrawide-angle unit<\/a>\u00a0to improve photography and videography. Given that the entire logic board is present in the iPhone Air\u2019s camera plateau, Apple will resort to clever engineering to add a second sensor.<\/p>\n

This includes reducing the size of Face ID, making enough room so the second camera can be added. However, there\u2019s no telling what trade-offs Apple will make to the sensor size, since it\u2019s working with negligible internal volume, so we\u2019ll have to wait and see whether a smaller physical camera with a reduced aperture is part of the package.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of the A20 Pro<\/a>\u00a0has us somewhat relieved because it means Apple will offer top-end specifications at a premium price instead of incorporating a slower SoC. Thanks to the new WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging, where the DRAM is kept separate from the chipset, the iPhone Air 2 could deliver better thermal performance while maintaining that slimmer chassis.<\/p>\n

The use of a 2nm silicon will also bring better battery life, but Prosser hasn\u2019t shared the iPhone Air 2\u2019s capacity, so there\u2019s no way of knowing how long it\u2019ll last. What we do know is that the compromises existing in the original iPhone Air aren\u2019t expected to be present in the iPhone Air 2, meaning that by offering more features to the masses, Apple could continue its lineup of sleeker flagships in the future too. Now it remains to be seen how well the succeeding model sells.<\/p>\n
