Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> were savaged by a royal commentator who claimed their public perception even in the US<\/a> can\u2019t get \u201cany worse\u201d. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen their popularity in both the US and the UK<\/a> gradually plummet since they stepped down as senior working royals in 2020.<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan immigrated across the pond for a new life, financially independent, from the Firm. But their countless accusations against the royals are thought to have played a key role in the public turning their back on them. Now, a royal commentator has weighed in on their popularity across the pond and compared it to that of Britain.<\/p>\n

Last May, a YouGov survey found Harry and Meghan ranked just above disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, with approval ratings of 33% and 22%, respectively.<\/p>\n

In June, another poll from YouGov America showed that Meghan\u2019s favourability was at 27%. For comparison, in the third quarter of 2025, she was liked by 37% and disliked by 22%, giving her a net approval rating of +15.<\/p>\n

Now, American journalist Paula Froelich spoke to The Daily Expresso\u2019s latest episode and gave her two cents on the popularity decline.<\/p>\n

She told host JJ Anisiobi: \u201cAmericans had a lot of goodwill for them. A lot. They have just taken a nosedive ever since. I don’t know if it could get any worse.”<\/p>\n

Ms Froelich added: “Their popularity is around about where they are in England, 20%.\u201d<\/p>\n

America\u2019s shift towards the couple became evident after a number of US publications ran scathing reports on their life across the pond, with Hollywood<\/a> bible Vanity Fair among the first magazines to take aim at them.<\/p>\n

At the time, the couple\u2019s attorney, Michael J.
