Merseyside Police has now provided a statement about the incident.<\/p>\n
Two children are believed to have been stabbed as a large crowd of teenagers brawled at a Merseyside bus station. Emergency services descended on Heswall Bus Station on Telegraph Road following reports of a stabbing at around 6.35pm today, Saturday (July 4).<\/p>\n
Merseyside Police<\/a> officers attended and found two teenage boys, one with an injury to his chest and the other with an injury to his finger, both believed to be inflicted with a bladed weapon, the force said. They have been taken to hospital for assessment and their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening<\/a>.<\/p>\n Teenage boys, believed to be between 15 and 17 years old, have been arrested and will be taken into custody for questioning. Detectives are still establishing what their details, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n The bus station remains cordoned off, with several police vehicles at the scene.<\/p>\n Officers continue to carry out witness, CCTV and forensic work in the area as the police force establishes what happened.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson said: “We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred.<\/p>\n “The possession of bladed weapons can and does cause devastation in our communities so despite these arrests, will be relentlessly pursuing all of those we suspect of having an involvement.<\/p>\n “Additionally, people who associate with those who carry weapons are putting themselves in danger, and need to tell us what they know.<\/p>\n “If you were in the area and saw the incident or anyone running off, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, please come forward with information and check any devices which may hold images or footage to assist.”<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the force added: “Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X or Facebook<\/a> @MerPolCC.<\/p>\n “You can also report information via our website: https:\/\/www.merseyside.police.uk\/ro\/report\/ocr\/af\/how-to-report-a-crime\/<\/a> or by calling 101 quoting incident reference 26000537879.<\/p>\n
