Tadej Pogacar<\/a> deviated from his original training plan in the final weeks leading up to the Tour de France. After his partner Urska Zigart<\/a>\u2019s serious crash in the Tour de Suisse, the Slovenian decided to skip his high-altitude training camp and spend his time at home with her instead<\/a>. Pogacar spoke about this ahead of the race.Zigart crashed hard during the Tour de Suisse\u2014in which Poga\u010dar also competed and won<\/a>\u2014on the stage to Locarno. She broke her jaw in the crash, which\u2014given the severity of the fall\u2014was actually a lucky break<\/a>. How is she doing now, a few weeks later?<\/p>\n

“Thanks for your concern,” Pogacar told us. \u201cShe\u2019s doing a lot better already. She\u2019s back to riding outside after having to ride indoors for a while. She wasn\u2019t allowed to go outside on her bike yet, even though she really wanted to. She\u2019s super strong and she\u2019s recovering quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

“A broken bone is never fun, but that broken jaw… “I think we can really see now just how tough she is, even when it comes to eating and everything,” said Pogacar. “So she\u2019s really doing well. It was a good decision to stay home together these past few days, and we had a great time. Now she\u2019s already back out cycling with confidence.”<\/p>\n

Zigart’s annual farewell postZigart, in turn, posted her annual \u201csee you later\u201d message<\/a> to her partner as the Tour de France got underway. \u201cThe crowd favorite is back. Another trip around the sun, another message in the run-up to the Tour. \ud83c\udf0d\u2600\ufe0fTime flies\u2026 sometimes too fast. Too fast to think about what\u2019s next, too fast to realize that the here and now is what matters, and that we should enjoy these moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

“You’ve already accomplished so much, but you’ve kept working hard and have always done your own thing even when others would struggle to find the motivation. Despite everything, you remain humble and true to yourself. You know how to maintain balance and always find time to enjoy the little things. I hope you enjoy this year, make wonderful memories with the guys, and above all, stay safe.’<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
