A home security clip which shows a big cat prowling in a village near Machynlleth has been released.

The video was released by PumaWatch as part of their July campaign which saw them make a Freedom of Information request to the Welsh Government.

The organisation which records the sightings of big cats in Wales claims that when big cats were banned as pets in the 1970s, it was legal to release them into the countryside to avoid expensive rehoming costs and that, as a result, there are still big cats in the wild.

A spokesperson for PumaWatch said: “As part of our July campaign, we are sharing a remarkable piece of video evidence alongside the official paper trail that followed it.

“Captured near Ceinws, Machynlleth, this home security clip shows a massive black cat creature under IR night vision.

“To accurately gauge its scale, the video includes clips of local badgers captured in the exact same position – the size difference is undeniable.”

The video shows that a badger was caught on the same camera and appears to be smaller.

The group said video also highlights the internal government files released via their recent FOI request which included “police intelligence”, “expert analysis” and “scale “comparison”.

A home security clip which shows a big cat prowling in a village near Machynlleth has been released.…

[26
90,56,54,55,4407
post-675990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-wildlife","tag-science","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom","tag-wildlife
["GET
