The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards<\/a> has labelled the United States as \u201ca bit of a disappointment\u201d in the current political climate.<\/p>\n Notably, Richards has called America home for more than 40 years since he moved to Connecticut in 1985 in order to raise his children away from the public eye, witnessing a huge degree of change in the country over that time.<\/p>\n In a new interview with the Sunday Times<\/a>, Richards made the remark about the state of the US in regards to a question in relation to their new song \u2018Ringing Hollow\u2019, which is set to appear on Foreign Tongues<\/a> on July 10th.<\/p>\n According to Richards, the track, which has been described as anti-Trump, as a \u201cnostalgic love affair with America, and (it being) a bit of a disappointment at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n While Richards joked that he\u2019s \u201cgot my steel helmet and I live in a bunker,\u201d he did highlight the most common concern held by ordinary citizens, adding, \u201cAll you hear is the moaning about the price of gas. This is where it hurts people.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Jagger clarified that \u2018Ringing Hollow\u2019 <\/a>isn\u2019t strictly an attack on the Trump regime, explaining, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s only about that, it\u2019s about America generally and your experiences of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Previously, Jagger has described the song as dealing with \u201cAmerica as an idea\u201d, sharing to MOJO, \u201cThe American Dream is intact for some people, and I\u2019m sure we can find some wonderful immigrant stories that happened in the last 12 months, but we read about the decline of the American Empire. Is\u00a0the Iran war America\u2019s Suez moment?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n He added, \u201cWell, it\u2019s not the same at all, but there are a lot of questions about imperial overreach, and the lobbying system.\u201d<\/p>\n On the song, the rock icon reportedly sings, \u201cLady Liberty don\u2019t look so good when there\u2019s a tear in her gown.\u201d<\/p>\n Another notable track on Foreign Tongues is their cover of Amy Winehouse\u2019s classic track<\/a>, \u2018You Know I\u2019m No Good\u2019. She once performed with the band at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2007.<\/p>\n In the same new interview, Richards expressed his regret that they only shared the stage together once, admitting, \u201cI was always sort of, \u2018Well, I\u2019m bound to meet her down the road\u2019. You expect things to happen, and unfortunately no. But that\u2019s what records are for. I\u2019m just very glad and honoured to have\u00a0played with her at least once<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
