September is going to be exciting, specifically September 8 or 9, when Apple’s new CEO John Ternus will hold his first ever keynote, according to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman<\/a>. What John and his team will announce is all but confirmed as well: In addition to the Apple Watch Series 12<\/a>, a new Apple Watch Ultra<\/a> and the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max<\/a>, the first foldable iPhone appears to be at the top of the list, although availability for the possibly \u00a0iPhone Ultra<\/a> named Apple foldable could be delayed by weeks as the well-known TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested on X today<\/a>. <\/p>\n

iPhone X situation all over again<\/p>\n

He sees parallels to the iPhone X launch nearly 10 years ago, when the announcement took place alongside the iPhone 8 on September 12, but pre-orders didn\u2019t start until October 27, with availability beginning on November 3, 2017. According to his industry analysis, it\u2019s not unlikely that the first iPhone Fold won\u2019t be available until the fourth quarter and will then be available only in limited quantities for quite some time, which will likely attract scalpers looking to profit from inflated resale prices. <\/p>\n

Up to 100% markup on resale<\/p>\n

Even the MSRP is likely to be extremely high. A price range of $2,300 to $2,500 even exceeds earlier estimates<\/a>. Resellers could even add a 50 to 100 percent markup, provided the analyst is correct in his assessment that demand will exceed supply at least through the end of the year. Unlike 2017, the analyst does not expect sales figures to exceed 20 million units. Instead, only about 7 to 8 million Apple foldables are expected to be sold in the second half of 2026, mainly due to high prices and manufacturing difficulties.\u00a0<\/p>\n
