{"id":676512,"date":"2026-07-06T10:44:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T10:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/676512\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T10:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T10:44:08","slug":"blaina-teen-lilly-jones-died-from-multiple-stab-wounds-inquest-hears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/676512\/","title":{"rendered":"Blaina teen Lilly Jones died from multiple stab wounds, inquest hears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A missing teenager died from multiple stab wounds, an inquest has heard. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lilly Jones, 14, was reported missing from her home in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, on June 20, before she was discovered in Duffryn Park woodlands two days later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Her preliminary cause of death was given as multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk, an inquest opening was told. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A 14-year-old boy has been charged with her murder and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cqx1yq43ze2o\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> appeared in court last week.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The short inquest hearing was told emergency services were called to the woodlands but Lilly was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Senior Gwent Coroner Caroline Saunders said that given the traumatic nature of the teenager&#8217;s death it was appropriate to hold an inquest, but adjourned it to a later date due to the ongoing police investigation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A provisional inquest date has been set for April 6 next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A further court hearing is set to take place later this month for the 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named,  and a trial is expected in November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The youth, who has not entered a plea to the murder charge, was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A missing teenager died from multiple stab wounds, an inquest has heard.
