{"id":677839,"date":"2026-07-07T04:09:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T04:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/677839\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T04:09:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T04:09:19","slug":"what-to-know-about-the-cash-questions-chasing-nigel-farage-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/677839\/","title":{"rendered":"What to know about the cash questions chasing Nigel Farage \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>George Cottrell, who spent time in an Arizona prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud, funded the Reform UK leader\u2019s private security, staff, transport, and accommodation in the year before he was elected to the Commons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/politics\/article\/revealed-nigel-farage-secretly-funded-by-convicted-criminal-j0brtrlnk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Sunday Times newspaper reported over the weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Farage also reportedly stayed at 32-year-old Cottrell\u2019s five-story home near Buckingham Palace. <\/p>\n<p>The Reform UK leader said in a statement to the Daily Express newspaper Sunday night: \u201cI have done no wrongdoing, followed the rules and I am now considering legal action against The Sunday Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s now clear the establishment will stop at nothing to hurt Reform \u2013 we want to smash their cosy consensus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His political rivals are leaping on it<\/p>\n<p>The allegations are easy ammunition for Farage\u2019s opponents, eager for a chance to dent his ratings. <\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Democrats have already written to Greenberg asking him to investigate the Cottrell support.
