A man was left with serious injuries after being hit by a car following a short pursuit by police in Oldham<\/a> on Tuesday evening (July 7).<\/p>\n

Officers in Oldham had been made aware of a car being driven dangerously shortly before 7pm. The car involved then passed a police car ‘at speed’, Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

A witness described how the police vehicle then ‘spun around’ to follow them and engaged in a short pursuit. It’s understood that within a matter of seconds, a pedestrian had then been knocked down.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian, a man, was left with serious injuries along Park Road in the Glodwick area. He was rushed to hospital from the scene.<\/p>\n

A man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Pictures from the scene on Tuesday showed a heavy police presence in attendance along with ambulances.<\/p>\n

Park Road was cordoned off amid investigations into the collision, with multiple traffic officers also in attendance. It was closed off between Landseer Street and Alexandra Street.<\/p>\n

A force spokesperson said: “Shortly before 7pm this evening, officers in the Oldham area were made aware of a vehicle driving in dangerous manner, with the vehicle soon after passing a police car at speed.<\/p>\n

“Shortly after, a collision occurred between the vehicle and a pedestrian, leaving the pedestrian with serious injuries on Park Road. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.
