{"id":680164,"date":"2026-07-08T10:14:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T10:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/680164\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T10:14:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T10:14:10","slug":"crewe-nhs-gardening-volunteer-invited-to-downing-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/680164\/","title":{"rendered":"Crewe NHS gardening volunteer invited to Downing Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">An NHS volunteer who was instrumental in transforming a hospital&#8217;s gardens said she was left in &#8220;absolute shock&#8221; after being invited to 10 Downing Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Sue Worthington, based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Cheshire, was among more than 100 staff at the Prime Minister&#8217;s residence on Monday to celebrate the health service&#8217;s 78th birthday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She was asked to attend in recognition of her dedication and contribution to healthcare, having held various roles at the NHS over the last 60 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;My reaction to being chosen to attend was just absolute shock.
