\n Tenby Town Council recommended to approve the application during the planning committee meeting on June 9.\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillors present at the meeting were Mayor Councillor Dai Morgan, Councillor Tom Sloan, Councillor Phil Spence, Councillor Anna Bolton, Councillor Tara Carmody, and Councillor Emma Lewis.\n<\/p>\n
\n The application, submitted by Tenby Health Ltd, proposed a change of use for Unit 3, Supermarket Complex, Upper Park Road, from A3 (food and drink) to D1 (non-residential institution).\n<\/p>\n
\n The premises, formerly The Grind coffee shop, is vacant and it is proposed to be transformed into a private musculoskeletal healthcare clinic.\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillors expressed disappointment at the loss of retail space but acknowledged that previous retail businesses had failed in the past.\n<\/p>\n
\n They agreed that the new clinic would be a beneficial use of the space and would contribute to the diversification of the area.\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillor Phil Spence proposed the approval of the application, which was seconded by Councillor Emma Lewis, and all were in favour.\n<\/p>\n
\n The clinic, operated by Tenby Health Ltd, will provide chiropractic care, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging, shockwave therapy, and rehabilitation and exercise-based programmes.\n<\/p>\n
\n It would operate on an appointment-only basis during regular working hours.\n<\/p>\n
\n The low-intensity, appointment-based nature of the clinic means there will be no material increase in noise, disturbance, or activity at the site compared to the previous use, the applicant said.\n<\/p>\n
\n The site is well-served by public transport, within walking distance of Tenby town centre facilities, and easily accessible to both the resident population and the significant visitor population of Tenby and the surrounding National Park.\n<\/p>\n
\n Private musculoskeletal healthcare services including chiropractic, ultrasound diagnosis and shockwave therapy, are not routinely available through NHS provision in this area, the applicant said.\n<\/p>\n
