This year\u2019s recipient will be Flourish & Succeed, one of Merseyside\u2019s fastest-growing wellbeing organisations, which supports hundreds of people across Knowsley and beyond.<\/p>\n
Launched 15 years ago by Michael Fielding MBE, it offers mental health groups, wellbeing activities, breakfast hubs, football sessions, family support, holiday programmes and more.<\/p>\n
It provides a crutch; a confidence boost; a source of companionship to people of all ages, determined to reduce isolation, improve wellbeing and forge lasting friendships.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe run groups from parent and child right up to men\u2019s allotment groups, walk and talks with women and men,\u201d explains Sandra Fearns, Flourish & Succeed director.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnything you need, we\u2019re like a one-stop shop for anything in the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really proud to even be spoken about in the same name as Anne Williams \u2013 such a powerhouse of a woman. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the morning of the golf day, Craig\u2019s Community Centre in Stockbridge Village is a bustling hub.<\/p>\n
Parents and children buzz around inside, enjoying arts and crafts, while others bask in the spacious garden as the sun begins to break through thin cloud.<\/p>\n
All around, staff and volunteers are coordinating proceedings with warmth and dedication, and their commitment is changing lives for the better.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first thing we learned about Flourish & Succeed was my grandson,\u201d explains Karen Keefe, a regular attendee. \u201cHe\u2019s autistic, and they had a SEN football team, and that\u2019s how we started coming.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just developed from there, they\u2019ve got so much for the community, and then this little place for the little ones, it\u2019s just amazing.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as you walk through the door, you\u2019re welcomed. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt can be a bit lonely if you\u2019re stuck in the house with a child and nowhere to go, and it\u2019s just a nice little release for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over in Formby, golfers work their way around pristine turf.<\/p>\n
