Boxing trainer and manager Colin \u201cNomakanjani\u201d Nathan has dismissed some boxing fans\u2019 suspicions that the heavyweight title fight between Shaun \u201cGod\u2019s Warrior\u201d Potgieter and Chris \u201cThe Wolf\u201d Thompson could degenerate into a glorified sparring session when they meet at Carnival City in Brakpan next Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Those notions emanate from three facts: the two boxers are friends, Thompson is trained by Nathan\u2019s partner, Shannon Strydom, at Nathan\u2019s Hotbox Gym, and Potgieter\u2019s career is guided by Nathan\u2019s No Doubt Management.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are going to bliksem each other \u2013 I can assure you of that,\u201d Nathan said to dispel any doubts yesterday. \u201cYes, Shannon is my partner and he trains Chris at my gym.\u201d<\/p>\n
Potgieter is under the tutelage of successful veteran trainer Gert Strydom, Shannon\u2019s father. Gert\u2019s other charge, Kaine \u201cK9\u201d Fourie, is also managed by Nathan\u2019s company.<\/p>\n
