(Image: Julian Claxton Photography)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Held on Saturday, July 11, it features images created through community workshops led by Suffolk photographer and filmmaker Julian Claxton.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/news\/22902206.lowestoft-exhibition-inspired-uganda-visit\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">more than a decade,<\/a> Mr Claxton has visited Uganda annually to deliver photography training and storytelling workshops using recycled photographic equipment.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>A young photographer at a rural school in Uganda during a Fotograf workshop. (Image: Julian Claxton Photography)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Fotograf workshops empower young people in rural communities to express themselves through visual storytelling and develop practical photography skills.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His work began following a 5,500-mile cycling journey from Suffolk to Rwanda in 2012, where he connected with East African communities who later helped shape the Fotograf project.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Fotograf uses photography and storytelling to empower young people through creativity, education and visual communication.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Portrait of a local man by workshop participant (Image: Julian Claxton Photography)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  By recycling photographic equipment and delivering hands-on workshops, the charity promotes self-expression and skill-building while helping participants share their personal experiences through imagery.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The exhibition will be open from 10am.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Young student taking photos using cameras donated and recycled by FOTOGRAF in rural Uganda (Image: Julian Claxton)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Visitors will be able to meet Mr Claxton, hear more about the impact of the project and the stories behind this unique collection images on display to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/news\/22894786.new-exhibition-showcased-photographer-inspires-african-children-to-learn-new-skills\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gain an insight into everyday life in rural Uganda.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The event will also feature a nostalgic &#8220;Snail Mail Postcard Service,&#8221; inviting guests to choose a postcard, write a message and send it the traditional way.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  At 11am, Mr Claxton will lead a free beginner&#8217;s photography workshop, offering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/news\/22900689.lowestoft-photographer-image-nominated-national-award\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tips and techniques for getting the most out of your camera.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The session is open to all and designed to boost confidence and answer questions in an informal setting.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Spaces for the workshop are free, but must be booked in advance via the charity\u2019s website.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  To reserve a place, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fotograf.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">www.fotograf.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The free one-day event, hosted by Lowestoft-based charity Fotograf, will take place at East Point Pavilion.
