\n The new BBC drama, The Hairdresser Mysteries, which stars Sally Phillips as Lily Petal is set to air on July 17.\n<\/p>\n
\n The show has been filmed in Alcester as well as parts of Worcestershire, including outside Batchley Road Fish Bar last year.\n<\/p>\n
\n Residents took to social media to share photos of the crews outside the shop and at the time, owner Andrew Ellinas, said: ”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Ellinas, who owns Batchley Road Fish Bar, said: “We were delighted to be picked. It was a great experience and really unique. All the cast were really welcoming. The actor who plays the Viking, who runs the fish and chip shop in the show, was brilliant.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The drama, created by Jim Cartwright and produced by Mill Bay Media 53 Degrees Global company in association with\u00a0Night Train Media, has been described as a “nostalgic nod to the 70s” where a high-end hairdresser, Lily Petal (Sally Phillips), opts out of the competitive city scene to buy a small village hairdressers at the top of a cobbled street.\n<\/p>\n
\n A description of the show said: “Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she is at the hub of her new village\u2019s secrets and revelations, and with her own brand of uncannily highly developed, hairdressing intuitive empathy and understanding, solves the village mysteries.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The filming is part of a commitment to reinvest in new programming from the West Midlands, which includes Silent Witness and MasterChef going into pre-production from new bases in Digbeth.\n<\/p>\n
\n Helen Munson, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime, said: “The West Midlands has so much home-grown talent in the drama sector, both on and off screen. Commissioning the Detection Club and The Hairdresser Mysteries will offer more jobs to the region and showcase what the area has to offer.\n<\/p>\n
