Sources of Call of Duty<\/a> fansite Charlie Intel<\/a> claim there are more people playing the \u201cbare bones\u201d ports of Black Ops 1<\/a> and 2<\/a> on the PS5 than the latest game Black Ops 7<\/a> across all consoles.<\/p>\n

While I haven\u2019t been able to corroborate that information, it\u2019s not a huge surprise. Engagement on the games has been through the roof here on Push Square<\/a>, while both titles have shot straight to the top of the best sellers list on the PS Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s true in a few countries I checked, including massive territories like the US, UK, France, and Germany.<\/p>\n

That means these simplistic re-releases are outperforming major new titles, like Assassin\u2019s Creed: Black Flag Resynced<\/a> and EA Sports College Football 27<\/a>, as well as pre-orders for GTA 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Black Ops 2 is shaping up to be the best performer of the two, but they\u2019re both selling well. PS Plus<\/a> members do get a 50% discount on each game, but the base price of $39.99\/\u00a334.99 is considered steep \u2013 especially with no DLC included.<\/p>\n

In our review of the original Black Ops<\/a>, my colleague Liam Croft described the port as a \u201crip off\u201d, criticising its price considering its lack of meaningful improvements. The presentation isn\u2019t massively dissimilar to how it was on the PS3 more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n

But while there\u2019s been criticism of how high Activision has priced these, its tactic appears to have worked flawlessly \u2013 it looks like they\u2019re both selling remarkably well for what they are.<\/p>\n
