On July 11th, Iron Maiden<\/a> soared through their only UK concert of the year at Knebworth Park in celebration of their 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The heavy metal stalwarts played at the iconic venue near Stevenage alongside The Darkness, The Hu, Airbourne, and The Almighty, during a weekend billed as \u201cEddfest\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be one for the history books<\/a>\u2026 in a really historic venue,\u201d said Iron Maiden\u2019s manager, Rod Smallwood, at the time of the announcement. He was certainly right about that, as the iconic band had last performed at the park in 2014 as the headliners of the Sonisphere Festival.<\/p>\n

However, this headline show was booked at a somewhat unfortunate time, as England were simultaneously battling Norway in the World Cup quarter-final<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d think there was a football match on!\u201d\u00a0vocalist Bruce Dickinson beamed in front of the 50,000 adoring fans in attendance.<\/p>\n

After the crowd was warmed up by recording tracks \u2018Doctor Doctor\u2019 by UFO, and the 1981 track \u2018The Ideas of March\u2019, the band kicked off with their first song of the night, \u2018Murders in the Rue Morgue\u2019.<\/p>\n

From there, they barrelled through hits like \u2018Wrathchild\u2019, \u2018Killers\u2019, \u2018Phantom of the Opera\u2019, \u2018The Number of the Beast\u2019 and \u2018Infinite Dreams\u2019. <\/p>\n

On a night that was being professionally recorded for the Run For Your Lives Tour film<\/a>, they left no stone unturned as they then smashed through \u2018Powerslave\u2019, \u20182 Minutes to Midnight\u2019, \u2018Rime of the Ancient Mariner\u2019 and \u2018Run to the Hills\u2019.<\/p>\n

Leading up to the encore, they shot through a four-set run, including \u2018Seventh Son of a Seventh Son\u2019, \u2018The Trooper\u2019, \u2018Hallowed Be They Name\u2019, and the eponymous \u2018Iron Maiden\u2019.<\/p>\n

The band was ushered back onto the stage after a thunderous fan plea for an encore; they played three more songs for the doting crowd, including \u2018Aces High\u2019, \u2018Fear of the Dark\u2019, and finally, \u2018Wasted Years\u2019.<\/p>\n
