Update: Ice Universe is convinced<\/a> that the video actually shows a Galaxy Z Fold7 and not the Z Fold8 Ultra. Among other clues, Ice points out that the Z Fold8 generation is supposed to introduce an anti-reflective film and the device in the video is showing a lot of reflections. Also, the punch hole for the selfie camera is bigger than it is supposed to be<\/a> – this is something that Ice has been keeping a close eye on. <\/p>\n

At CES, Samsung showcased a foldable display with no visible crease<\/a>. We all knew this was a teaser for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and now we have proof \u2013 someone from the production chain took a video of a working device that shows off the invisible crease.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the best-quality video (it does get better after it switches to landscape mode), but the key thing to look at is the reflection from the overhead light \u2013 this is the kind of lighting setup that makes creases pop out the most.<\/p>\n

And the display looks perfectly flat. It took a few generations, but Samsung Display finally figured it out. This may not have come without sacrifices<\/a>, but it\u2019s an impressive feat nonetheless. Will this be better than Oppo Find N6<\/a>\u2019s \u201cZero-Feel Crease\u201d? That is a question to ask once we have a review unit. Later on, Apple will introduce its first-ever foldable<\/a> and the crease was a major concern for the perfectionists at Cupertino. The problem was solved with the help of none other than Samsung Display.<\/p>\n

In case you missed it, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will be the successor to the Z Fold7. The Galaxy Z Fold8 (without \u201cUltra\u201d) will be the new wide-format foldable \u2013 dummy units<\/a> of both were photographed a few days ago. Then there is the Galaxy Z Flip8, the latest (and possibly last<\/a>) flip-style foldable. We expect to see price<\/a> hikes<\/a> everywhere<\/a> this generation. Samsung has already confirmed that it will be using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5<\/a> chipset, though the Z Flip8 will likely also use the Exynos 2600 in certain regions.<\/p>\n

The new foldables (and new Galaxy watches) will be officially unveiled on July 22<\/a>. Pre-reservations are already open<\/a> and you can get a $30 voucher if you sign up now.<\/p>\n
