{"id":689351,"date":"2026-07-13T14:03:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:03:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/689351\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T14:03:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:03:17","slug":"japanese-team-finds-frog-bacteria-that-wipes-out-cancer-tumors-with-a-single-dose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/689351\/","title":{"rendered":"Japanese Team Finds Frog Bacteria That Wipes Out Cancer Tumors With a Single Dose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-238688\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Japanese-Tree-Frog-Hyla-japonica-by-Greg-Peterson-CC-BY-SA-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1300\" height=\"696\"\/>Japanese Tree Frog (Hyla japonica) by Greg Peterson \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/3.0\/deed.en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">CC BY-SA 3.0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Japanese scientists have discovered a naturally-occurring bacteria in a frog species with remarkably-potent anticancer activity\u2014in fact, it destroyed cancer tumors in one dose.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Professor Eijiro Miyako, the team at Japan\u2019s Advanced Institute of Science and Technology discovered that a natural bacteria from the intestines of a Japanese tree frog (Ewingella americana) achieved a 100% tumor elimination rate in mice with just a single intravenous.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did the gut bacteria kill the cancer cells, it also engaged the animal\u2019s immune system for \u201ccomprehensive tumor destruction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The team reported and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/19490976.2025.2599562#abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> published their findings in<\/a> the journal Gut Microbes.<\/p>\n<p>While the relationship between gut microbiota and cancer has attracted considerable attention in recent years, most approaches have focused on indirect methods. In contrast, this study takes a completely different approach: isolating, culturing, and directly administering individual bacterial strains intravenously to attack tumors.<\/p>\n<p>The research team isolated a total of 45 bacterial strains from the intestines of Japanese tree frogs, fire belly newts (Cynops pyrrhogaster), and grass lizards (Takydromus tachydromoides). Through systematic screening, nine strains demonstrated anti-tumor effects, with E. americana exhibiting the most exceptional therapeutic efficacy.<\/p>\n<p>In mice with colorectal cancer, a single intravenous administration of E. americana achieved complete tumor elimination with a 100% complete response rate\u2014dramatically surpassing the efficacy of current standard therapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (anti-PD-L1 antibody) and liposomal doxorubicin (chemotherapy agents).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese findings suggest that gut microbiomes of lower vertebrates harbor numerous uncharacterized bacterial species with exceptional therapeutic potential,\u201d said the authors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur study underscores the critical importance of microbial biodiversity in advancing cancer treatment strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The innovative therapy strategy also exhibited an excellent safety profile,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaist.ac.jp\/english\/whatsnew\/press\/2025\/12\/17-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> according to a press release<\/a> (wherein you can read more about how it works).<\/p>\n<p>Safety profile of E. americana:<br \/>\u2022 Rapid blood clearance (half-life ~1.2 hours, completely undetectable at 24 hours)<br \/>\u2022 Zero bacterial colonization in normal organs including liver, spleen, lung, kidney, heart<br \/>\u2022 Only transient mild inflammatory responses, normalizing within 72 hours<br \/>\u2022 No chronic toxicity during 60-day extended observation<\/p>\n<p>Future research and development will expand to other cancer types, evaluating the efficacy in breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, melanoma, and other malignancies.<\/p>\n<p>MORE CANCER BREAKTHROUGHS:<br \/>\u2022\u00a0<a title=\"Cancer Vaccine Produces 49% Melanoma Reduction in Patients Five Years Later\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodnewsnetwork.org\/cancer-vaccine-produces-49-melanoma-reduction-in-patients-5-years-later\/\" rel=\"bookmark nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cancer Vaccine Produces 49% Melanoma Reduction in Patients Five Years Later<\/a><br \/>\u2022 <a title=\"Scorpion Venom May Provide the Next Breast Cancer Breakthrough\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodnewsnetwork.org\/scorpion-venom-may-provide-the-next-breast-cancer-breakthrough\/\" rel=\"bookmark nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scorpion Venom May Provide the Next Breast Cancer Breakthrough<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The team will also focus on developing safer and more effective delivery approaches including dose fractionation and intra-tumoral injection.
