David Beckham has jumped to his wife Victoria’s defence after her notably restrained response during England’s World Cup quarter-final triumph sparked mockery and backlash online.<\/p>\n

The former England captain has stepped in following a wave of social media jokes about the fashion designer’s composed demeanour during Saturday’s dramatic 2-1 victory against Norway.<\/p>\n

The Beckham family watched from prime seats at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium for the quarter-final clash, with David, 51, joined by Victoria, 52, and three of their four children: Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15.<\/p>\n

When Jude Bellingham found the net during first-half stoppage time with a crucial equaliser, the former England captain leapt from his seat in celebration alongside his children.<\/p>\n

“F***ing get in,” the former Man United winger exclaimed. Victoria, however, remained firmly in her chair while staring emotionless into space.<\/p>\n

Images capturing the wildly different responses between the animated David and his wife quickly circulated online.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the fashion mogul, who famously rarely smiles in public, was later spotted clapping along as England completed their comeback.<\/p>\n

After the images went viral, American comedian Jenny Johnson posted a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Victoria on X and Instagram.<\/p>\n

Ms Johnson sarcastically praised Victoria as England’s “number one fan” and joked about her “infectious” Posh Spice smile.<\/p>\n

Sir David responded directly to the post with a string of laughing emojis before penning an explanation in favour of his spouse.<\/p>\n

He wrote: “She was celebrating inside, I promise. Her reactions were slightly slower than mine.”<\/p>\n

Ms Johnson’s full post read: “There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria and we see that classic Posh Spice smile! It’s so infectious!<\/p>\n

“I used to think I got animated while watching sports, but Victoria blows my enthusiasm out of the water! Each time I see her I shout, ‘SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!’ because her energy is electric!!!” (sic)<\/p>\n

Before long, many of Ms Johnson’s followers also took to the comments to share their opinions. “She\u2019s watched enough football in her life. I mean I don\u2019t get excited when my husband takes me to his office,” one Instagram user remarked in the comments section.<\/p>\n

“Victoria being Victoria… I love her so much !! She’s just a vibe,” a second added, while a third weighed in: “If Victoria was doing anything BUT this, I would be concerned. She\u2019s giving classic, iconic Posh!”<\/p>\n

Another concurred: “She is the OG lady of football and is an ICON. She isn\u2019t Posh Spice for nothing.” (sic)<\/p>\n

Following the match on Saturday night, David posted a family photograph alongside his wife and three of his four children.<\/p>\n

Celebrating the victory, he penned: “What a moment in Miami, I’m so proud of the team tonight reaching the semi-final of the World Cup and to celebrate with my family was so special…<\/p>\n

“Thank you @england for giving our country these moments.” (sic)<\/p>\n

Victoria shared similar images, writing: “Special moment tonight in Miami with my family and for our country.”<\/p>\n

Their eldest son, Brooklyn, remains estranged from his family. He avoided any mention of England’s World Cup win on his own social pages.<\/p>\n

Instead, he returned to social media over the weekend alongside his wife, Nicola Peltz.<\/p>\n
