The first semi-final begins with a wholly predictable pairing in Dallas, Texas. When it comes to international silverware, Spain has won three European Championships and one World Cup this century, while France has one of each. After a poor performance for his club Real Madrid this year, French captain Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 has been on top form this summer, and will be looking to avenge his team\u2019s defeat by Spain in the 2024 Euros semi-final.<\/p>\n
The Great British Sewing Bee

Amateur sewers wind their bobbins up for another series of this friendly competition. Host Sophie Willan, who joined at Christmas, returns to keep the mood light as contestants sew a pair of shorts, turn an apron into a different item, and make a summer outfit. One participant is an instant frontrunner but they\u2019re all impressive.<\/p>\n
Bake Off: The Professionals
Channel 4, 8pm
The quarter-final of the cake-off sees the remaining patissiers creating ever more complex treats from flour and sugar. Tonight it\u2019s two batches of 24 afternoon tea delicacies and a gravity-defying pi\u00f1ata inspired by the steampunk cabaret show Circus of Horrors. What the series lacks in the warmth of regular Bake Off, it makes up for in masterful craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

The American version of Doc Martin continues with its extremely toothsome cast. The annual Blood Factory event, a celebration of a horror novel set in the village, causes panic in the blood-phobic doc (Josh Charles), who is also preoccupied with Louisa\u2019s (Abigail Spencer) fainting fits. Serviceable but lacking in British wit.
